Anxiety and panic attacks

Anxiety disorders are an enormous burden for those affected and can have a significant impact on their lives. Anxiety can take the form of panic attacks, social anxiety, specific phobias or generalized anxiety disorder, for example. A precise exploration of the fears and their background helps to develop a better understanding of them and to find strategies for coping with them.

Disability

I offer people with disabilities an open space in which they can work on their issues psychotherapeutically. Through my many years of work as a psychosocial counselor for women with learning difficulties (https://www.ninlil.at/) habe ich wertvolle Einblicke in die spezifischen Herausforderungen und Strukturen gewonnen, denen Menschen mit Behinderung begegnen. In der Psychotherapie kombiniere ich dieses Wissen mit der Grundhaltung, dass Empowerment und die bestmögliche Selbstbestimmung für Menschen mit Behinderung von zentraler Bedeutung sind.

Depression & Burn-out (fatigue depression)

Depression can manifest itself through a range of symptoms such as persistently depressed mood, lack of drive, loss of interest, lack of pleasure, social withdrawal and increased fatigue. It can occur as a single depressive episode but also as a recurrent depressive disorder.

In the case of exhaustion depression - colloquially known as burn-out - a high workload and excessive demands often precede the state of total exhaustion. In psychotherapy, we jointly develop measures for the treatment and prevention of depressive moods and burnout symptoms.

Eating disorders

Common types of eating disorders are bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa and binge eating. They are usually associated with a strained relationship with food, body image, weight and, as a result, self-esteem. Those affected often conceal their problems out of shame and suffer for years before seeking support. An initial confiding in psychotherapy can be a great relief. In the sessions, we work to understand the triggers and functions of the eating disorder and develop healthy strategies that strengthen body image and self-esteem in the long term.

Experiences of violence

There are many forms of violence. These include physical, psychological, sexualized, structural, economic and digital violence. Severe neglect in childhood is also counted among the forms of violence. It is not always clear to those affected that they are experiencing or have experienced one or more forms of violence. There is often a lack of awareness of the effects of this violence on their own lives and well-being. Psychotherapy helps to identify and better understand the structures and influences of violence, to free oneself from the dynamics of violence and to integrate traumatic experiences.

As a Kink Aware Professional, I offer an open, respectful and appreciative space for people who live or are considering alternative forms of sexuality and relationship concepts. I support you in areas such as BDSM, sex positivity, polyamory and other non-monogamous forms of relationships with openness and without prejudice. In a safe and confidential atmosphere, I will help you explore your desires, needs and boundaries. Together we can work on creating a fulfilling and authentic sex and relationship life.

Crisis & significant life events

In acute crisis situations, psychotherapy can provide rapid support and relief. It helps people to cope better with drastic events such as separations, deaths, accidents, serious illnesses, the birth of a child, the completion of an education or retirement. Nevertheless, it often takes time to come to terms with the changes and adapt to the new circumstances. Psychotherapy offers a space in which you can express your feelings and needs. Together we develop strategies to better deal with the new life situation, to endure it and ultimately to overcome it.

I enjoy working with people from the LGBTQIA+ Spektrum, d.h. lesbischen*, schwulen*, bisexuellen*, pan- und asexuellen sowie transidenten, intergeschlechtlichen, nicht binären, gender-fluiden und anderen Personen. Ich biete in meiner Praxis einen Raum, an dem ich Ihnen mit dem Wissen um hetero- und cisnormative Strukturen und deren Auswirkungen begegne. Ich begleite Sie bei Themen wie Coming-Out bzw. Letting-In, Fragen zur sexuellen Orientierung und Geschlechtsidentität, Umgang mit Diskriminierung, Gewalterfahrungen, Kinderwunsch, Regenbogenfamilien und anderen queeren Themen.

Couples therapy

I offer therapy and support for couples and poly constellations who want to work on their relationship or clarify their relationship status. I support you in openly communicating individual wishes and needs and their impact on the relationship. Together we will work on identifying and dealing with problems and developing beneficial communication patterns. We will explore the dynamics of your relationship and examine how to move forward - whether you will grow together or whether the relationship will take a different direction. It is particularly important to me to create a space in which all relationship partners feel understood and respected.

Self-experience and personal development

Psychotherapy also helps you to understand yourself better in the case of problems without a clear pathological value. I will accompany you through all phases of your life and help you to make decisions or resolve obstructive patterns. Topics such as work and education, relationship issues in couples or poly relationships, friendships or family conflicts can be the focus. Psychotherapy promotes self-understanding and thus contributes to personal development.

Self-awareness is a central component of the psychotherapeutic preparatory course. It enables you to experience the effects of psychotherapy and the person-centered approach for yourself. I would be happy to accompany you on this path.

Sexuality

In my practice, I offer you a safe space in which you can talk about sexuality free from judgment, shame and taboos. Together we can explore topics such as sexual dysfunction, fantasies, sexual preferences and desires, insecurities, dissatisfaction, lack of sexual experience, listlessness, asexuality, the influence of negative previous experiences and experiences of violence as well as many other aspects of sexuality in an open and appreciative environment. I support you in better understanding your own sexuality and shaping it in a way that suits you.

Trauma and other stress disorders

Post-traumatic stress disorders arise as a reaction to one-off or prolonged severe stress, such as experiences of violence or accidents. Traumatic experiences can severely affect those affected even years or decades later. The consequences often manifest themselves in the form of anxiety, panic attacks, sleep disorders, inner restlessness, flashbacks, numbness, dissociation or low self-esteem. When dealing with trauma, the focus is on stabilization, self-strengthening and the development of resources in order to gradually process and integrate the experiences.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder

Compulsions are expressed through recurring, unwanted thoughts (obsessive thoughts) and ritualized actions (compulsive actions) that are difficult to control for those affected. They usually cause great suffering and lead to a lack of understanding of one's own behavior. Psychotherapy can help to understand the underlying function of the compulsions and to better perceive one's own needs and feelings. This self-acceptance can help to put the compulsions into perspective, find a better way of dealing with one's own thoughts and feelings and develop alternative solutions.
